For Catalina Talero education is not a systemic, esoteric problem inaccessible to the average citizen. It is not strictly the responsibility of teachers and, perhaps, parents. The education system of the United States of America is the responsibility of each and every one of its citizens.

Biography

Catalina Talero currently serves as Executive Director and board member of the One World Youth Project. A Fulbright Scholar in 2009-2010, Catalina has specialized in civic engagement and education management for nearly seventeen years. She holds an Honors Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from the University of Toronto and a graduate degree from from George Washington University in Human & Organizational Management. She has served as Director of Programs for Global Kids in Washington, D.C., as Program Officer at the Office of Postsecondary Education of the United States Department of Education and -in the past- she founded her own company

As founder and CEO of Envaluate, Inc., Talero won contracts that allowed her to design and implement original digital curricula for the Inter-American Development Bank with a special focus on education resources for afro-descendant and indigenous students in The Americas -especially the Andean Region. For the International Center for Alcohol Policies, she conducted and assessed bilingual evaluations (Spanish-English) of Salvadoran and Kenyan domestic violence prevention programs. Other past clients/collaborators include: CentroNía, Peace First (Harvard), Bogotá Classrooms of Peace/Aulas de Paz (Universidad de los Andes). She is a DC Advisory Board Member to Peace First.
